I'm not seeing hardly any difference (if any) between builds 5381.1 and 5384.4. Surely we're not going to turn build 5384.4 (as is) loose on the public are we (it might scare the kids!)? Seeing as how it'll be weeks before the public build is released, we will give it a "once over' and incorporate, fix and modify it right? Or am I dreaming...? Your thoughts and comments are appreciated. THX Frank

Will the public beta be the same build (5384.4)?
I am sure they are working on issues every day and will send it out with whatever fixes they have tested. Changes from now on won't be so much in what you can see right off, it's more of getting the things under the hood to work properly.

I hope that they wait until RC 1, for the Public Release, just FYI. Otherwise, these Newsgroups will be flooded with people crying for help with their Beta 2 Problems, also just FYI.

I am afraid not, the 5384.4 build is BETA 2, I think they want some thorough feed back from the Public before they release anything new to the public. 5381 was released almost 3 weeks ago, not much has changed really, 5384 will be released to the public 3 weeks from now, I don't think you will see much changes or fixes even then if a new build was released. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Being part of the public, anyone brave enough to install Vista is not a kid. Beta's are just that, a BET with the letter A at the end. Come to think of it Vista has an A at the end. This newsgroup has .public as part of the name. I try to find and fix problems by myself if I can, it's the only way to learn. As a last resort I use a newsgroup and for the most part they have been helpful. I'll bet that when Vista reaches RTM there will still be bugs!

That doesn't rhyme, but 'giraffe' does end in an 'e' if that counts.

There aren't many - performance has been improved and the setup has been tweaked so that it runs more efficiently. Nothing major, I'll grant you that, but it's stated a "beta 2" because they're happy to say that this build has enough bugs fixed and enough runtime to work properly and can be used without too much of a problem even in a production environment.

Can't see any appreciable difference between the two builds. It's still 2 1/2 hours to install on a 2.00GHz tablet. Everything I bugged wrong with 5381 (and most of what I bugged with 5308 or 5365) is still not fixed.
There is one place where it's worse. I can't pick up my wireless network (others are visible) but if I boot into XP then it's fine.
